I have been guiding full time in the Lower Laguna Madre for over 13 years but guiding in total for almost 20 years. Specializing in wade fishing with artificial lures.
I have had the pleasure of being on the Waterloo ProTeam for about 15 years. My favorite Waterloo rods are the 6'4" Carbon Mag and the 6'6" Slam Mag. For spin cast I like the 6'6" HP Lite. I prefer these shorter rods because in my opinion I can work certain lures more efficiently and have more control while fighting a fish.
As a Shimano field tester, I have had the opportunity to try various different reels. I have found that the Curado 71 and the SLX 71 HG MCL with 30lb Power Pro have been the most durable.
As far as wading gear, I use an EZ wade belts, Bart's Bay Armor wading boots, Feral chest pack, Stinky Pants wade box, and a Stinky Pants stringer. These have been my go-to products for years.
For comfort and sun protection daily. I use Smith Optics for sunglasses, specifically the Guides Choice with green lenses or occasionally yellow lens.
In my lure boxes, I always have these top waters with single hooks. Mansfield Knockers-Ruby Tuesday, Zombie, Golden Croaker, The Goat, and Wounded Trout. My favorite plastic lures are KWigglers- Ball tails & Ball tail Jr- Plum chartreuse, Lagunaflauge, Mansfield Margarita, Barts Sand Ninja, Salt n Pepper, and Bone Diamond. For all my plastic lures I use the Kwigglers 1/8th oz screw lock jig heads.
